These workshops are tailored to meet the needs of the participants.

Creative Dance-Drama Workshops

(for students of all ages - one or more days either consecutively or over a period of time)

For primary/early years students using environmental issues as a stimulus to create a devised work that will heighten the pupils' awareness of the subjects being explored.

For secondary/high schools or colleges taking a stimulus relevant to the institution and working with two groups (e.g. one dance and one drama) and having a feedback session to discuss the similarities and differences, analyzing the reasons for these.

History of Western Theatre Dance in Context

(2 hours, suitable for IB, GCSE, AS, A level, Diploma, and Degree students)

This workshop explores the development of dance in relation to the other arts with suggested topics for further research. This could be followed up, at a later date, with seminars/tutorials to discuss the research proposals.

Movement For Actors (for older students (14+). Half-day)

This workshop is for actors, exploring the use of Pilates, Alexander Technique, relaxation, trust, improvisation, and other techniques with special regard to health and safety and encouraging the student to take personal responsibility for their own body care and maintenance.

Musical Theatre - Choreographic Styles and Characteristics (for students of all ages, half-day)

This lecture-workshop, with demonstration video, explores how basic motifs can be developed and extended into different styles and characteristics. The students are then invited to divide into groups and create their own piece based upon one particular style or characteristic.

Follow up sessions are available, which could focus on one particular aspect, e.g. Fosse, Rogers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, international styles, creative movement, or a specific performer such as Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire.

These workshops can be adapted to meet the requirements of the client.

Period Movement (for students of all ages, half-day)

This workshop is particularly relevant for a performing arts group from mixed disciplines, and examines dance/movement through the ages, considering the effect of sociological and political events on dance and movement, and relating the movement to the musical form (e.g. Minuet, Gavotte, Sarabande etc)
