Luise Horrocks
Luise Horrocks began her musical training at Oxford University, later taking an Advanced Studies Course at the Royal College of Music and a PGCE at Goldsmiths’ College, London.
As a Soprano soloist Luise has sung extensively throughout Britain and Europe at major concert venues and Festivals. She has made a number of concert appearances in the USA and has recently returned from a series of prestigious engagements in South Africa. Her wide repertoire encompasses Monteverdi to Stravinsky and she has given a number of premieres by contemporary composers. She has appeared with orchestras as diverse as the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the English String Orchestra and her BBC broadcasts include performances of Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation and works by Goehr. Alongside radio and television appearances, her recordings include work as a guest soloist with Pro Cantione Antiqua and a disc of the songs of Madeleine Dring. She also sings in recital with harp accompaniment and with the acclaimed concert trio Triple Time.
As a Music Examiner for Trinity College, London and as a qualified adjudicator member of the British & International Federation of Festivals, Luise brings her professional experience to the realm of assessment and accreditation. In these capacities she has travelled widely around the world. She has written articles about singing for various publications and is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Birmingham.
As a voice teacher at the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire, in a variety of schools and in an extensive private practice, Luise has achieved impressive results across the full range of students from beginners to professionals. She is keen on developing strong vocal techniques in support of the performance of songs in any style and has given many masterclasses and workshops to students and teachers here in the UK and in Australia, America and Dubai.
Luise also works as a choral trainer and coach for young singers in Musical Theatre and for both children’s and adult choirs. She has given many single workshops as a visiting voice specialist in addition to working on residential courses and as a staff appointment to choirs. |
