Miguel Mera

Miguel is a versatile composer with a broad stylistic palette (orchestral, jazz, drum n’ bass, small ensembles, historical pastiche etc.). His music has been broadcast on terrestrial television in the United Kingdom and at film festivals around the world. He also teaches film composition at the Royal College of Music, London, and at the Dartington International Summer School, England. He read Music at the University of York, and has a postgraduate degree in Music Design for Film and Television from the University of Bournemouth. 

Recent works include the films The Goodbye Plane (Kewhaven Pictures), Yellow Bird (Icarus Productions), The Greek Man From Pakistan (Snakeheads Productions), Love After a Fashion (Powell Productions,), the documentaries The Secrets of the Guillotine (Uden Associates/Channel 5), and The Last Few (Corporate Film Company/Channel 5,), a drama about the plight of refugees, ‘Fugee Girl (Vicarious Productions/Channel 4), and the animated shorts, Driving Kid (RCA/Yong Seek Oh), Sweet Smell of Roses (SIADUC/Sandra Murta,), and Last Best Friend (Steve Smith, RCA).  

Miguel also composes for theatre with recent work commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Youth Music Theatre, and Regent’s Park Theatre in England. Forthcoming projects include Moth (Amulet Films), The First World Cup Remembered (FIFA) and Galloper Jack (Coneyhurst Productions). 

Miguel appears in a six-part documentary about film music, Music Behind the Scenes (CreaTVty/Channel 4) and is a member of BAFTA.
